When I first saw this thing on the shelf I didn't think much of it, but after playing it I have new respect for the development team and I certainly hope they'll be making more stuff for us to spooge over. But this is just a minor thing and can be easily overlooked due to the solid single player element. My only 'gripe' here is the fact that it would been cool go have a two player coop mode because in most levels you have a helper (one of the 3 characters) helping you out. Its pretty lame but I'm sure will add value to the fans of the series. Also there are exclusive footage of interviews with Peter Jackson and the actors talking about lending their talents to this game. Further there are a couple of unlockables in the game and apparently you get to play as a secret character (I haven't got that far into it).

This game is easy enough for anyone new to the gaming scene to just jump in and button-mash their way to victory but for the hard core gamers there are strings of complex combos that you can pull off to try to achieve the 'PERFECT' rating within the game. The player character moves through the levels, fighting hordes of Orcs, Goblins and other creatures with various attack and parrying moves. YOu get to play Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas each having their own set of special moves and combos. Players, choosing to control Aragorn, Legolas or Gimli, must battle the evil forces of the Dark Lord Sauron in order to protect the Ring of Power and restore peace to Middle-earth. If just the graphics and the theme weren't enough to get this game, the developers have added elements to keep you coming back and playing it again and again. This has really renewed my faith in the longetivity of the PS2 and I'm hoping more games come out using this graphics engine.

The sheer scale of the battles in the second movie have been recreated perfectly. There are an extremely high amount of polys being pushed and everything flows silky smooth. First of all, the graphics in this game are friggin awesome. This title takes the action game to a new level entirely and I for one am extremely impressed with it. I don't usually post reviews, but I feel people shouldn't miss this game thinking that it's another crappy movie-to-game translation.
